Literature Text

She cries beneath the veil of lace
Doors swing open, hearts start to race

The organ starts to play that tune
Attention is shifted to the back of the room

She's presented with her father in hand
Holding back tears as best as she can

She's been planning this day for years and years now
Writing and rehearsing every vow.

She walks down the aisle with beauty and grace
Smiling beneath that veil of lace

Anxiously approaching her husband-to-be
Her vision narrows; he's all she can see

She accepts his hand as she nears the alter
She recites her vows and does not falter

She knows their love will last forever
She feels so secure when they are together

When the priest announces "You May Kiss the Bride"
They face the congregation with happiness and pride

They gaze at each other face to face
She cries beneath that veil of lace

Her love is held deep in her heart
She's committed until death do they part

Hand in hand they walk down the aisle
Both of them grateful and wearing a smile

Their contentment rises as they step outside
As a newly-wed couple they let out a sigh

They raise up their arms and breathe in the air
God has come to answer their prayer

They finally made it, they’re in the right place
She smiles beneath that veil of lace
A poem I wrote a while back...
